Bali Buda - real food by real people
We spend about half a year on Bali. While being here we want to live in harmony with the laws of Balinese nature and culture. Bali is still a third world country in some ways, and unfortunately, in many areas it is not as developed as “western” countries.
One of those undeveloped sectors is recycling and waste management. That is the reason why we are pleased to participate in many different local projects to promote awareness about recycling, beach cleaning, and pollution in general. We are delighted to see things moving slowly in the right direction towards cleaner Bali. Even more joy we feel when we can combine this with a cup of great coffee knowing that we just supported local farmers and real waste sorting.
There is one place where all of this is possible: Bali Buda / real food for real people
Bali Buda project was established and launched 1994 with the idea of creating a place for people to eat well and healthy, from local supplies and bio farms only and give the earnings back to the farmers. The project has been successful, there are four restaurants from the original one, the farmers have a chance to earn good money and are therefore always motivated to continue this craft. They are happy to bake 500 loaves of fresh bread and supply fresh ingredients to the kitchens of Bali Buda every single day.
There is a small shop provided with the restaurants where you can buy fruits and vegetables, homemade sauces, palm sugar, natural cosmetics, great cookies, honey, nuts, coffee, and many other delicious staff. And as we mentioned the waste sorting, Bali Buda is recycling all the waste in cooperation with ECO BALI, creating a compost from biowaste to fertilize the soil. In addition, you can bring them your used packaging from their products, and they will recycle them for you. How amazing is that?
Bali Buda is placed on few different spots across Bali, so wherever you are, it is likely that you find it in your neighborhood. Go there and get yourself healthy breakfast, gourmet lunch full of different flavors or a light dinner. In Bali Buda they have it all.
Plus they have delicious coffee from local plantations, of course. Go for a carrot cake and a Cleansing drink and make your day even more beautiful! Your belly will leave happy and satisfied and your soul nourished by feeling of supporting local farmer family.
